The original name of this place was Hacienda “Vista Alegre”, but over the years it was called Hacienda Mundaca by the local people, in honor of Fermín Antonio Mundaca, a famous French pirate and slave trader, who built the place with houses, wells, impressive gardens and arches, inspired by the love he had for “Triguena”, a beautiful Indian woman originally from the island, whom he met during his many travels.
Today, Hacienda Mundaca is a place full of mysticism, surrounded by the Mayan jungle, where you will find various elements that the Pirate Mundaca built: a garden with a sundial, a stone arch, water wells, various paths with ample vegetation, a resting place, etc.
Also, in the place you can find a lagoon, as well as a hut that portrays the traditional Mayan dwellings and the way this culture lived.
