Everything you need to know for travel safety during Covid-19.
Isla Mujeres is one of the most visited islands of the Caribbean with thousands of tourists arriving every year for its sandy beaches, crystal waters and all-inclusive resorts.
And despite the pandemic, Isla Mujeres continues to receive visitors who want to enjoy their beautiful beaches and who are willing to continue with the security measures, which have made the island one of the safest places to visit this 2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
But, What is the situation of Covid-19 on the Island?
Actually, Isla Mujeres is one of the three municipalities in the state of Quintana Roo with the least cases of coronavirus, which indicates the great job the government has done on the Island to maintain the safety of the population and tourism.
Similarly, there is a color scale that indicates how safe the municipality is and dictates the restrictions that must be followed. This scale takes 4 colors as a reference: red (total blocking), orange (partial reopening on a small scale), yellow (reopening on a medium scale) and green (back to normal). In the case of the Island, it is in yellow.
As we already mentioned, Isla Mujeres is a safe place, the risk indicators of contagion for now remain low but in the state the mandatory regulations for activities due to the pandemic of Covid 19 are:
The hotels should be operated at 50% of capacity.
The use of masks in public is obligatory.
Only three people per taxi.
The sale of alcohol is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The beaches, public parks and outlets are open at 60% of capacity and the access is controlled.
Groups are limited to a maximum of 5 people.
Will I enjoy my trip despite Covid-19?
The answer is yes. The protocols have been implemented in a way that ensures safety but does not take away vacations from guests. In addition, in several places the use of QR codes has been implemented to reduce contact and for tourists to download all the information they may need during their vacations, like menus, tour itineraries, electronic tickets, etc.
However, certain activities, such as going to bars and nightclubs, are not yet available, but still, there are many ways to relax and enjoy a vacation after quarantining at home.
What happens if a tourist has COVID-19 symptoms?
Mexico is open to travelers. There is no need to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival, but if you have symptoms of Covid before traveling we recommend that you stay at home and postpone your trip, for your safety and the others.
On the contrary, if during your stay on the island you have symptoms, you have nothing to worry about, as there are many places you can get a rapid Covid-19 antigen test and in case of testing positive, hotels offer up to 10 days of free accommodation to complete the quarantine.
